Objective: To facilitate an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to the study of ovarian cancer by establishing a valuable resource comprising epidemiologic data and biological samples from a large population-based group of women diagnosed with epithelial ovarian cancer and a comparable group of cancer-free women.

Specific Aims:

•  To identify and recruit a large population-based group of women newly diagnosed with primary epithelial ovarian cancer and a matched group of cancer-free control women;

•  To collect and process relevant sociodemographic, medical, reproductive and behavioral information from the women;

•  To facilitate the collection of blood, urine and tumor tissue/tumor blocks (cases only) to allow integration of epidemiologic and genetic/molecular approaches to the study of ovarian cancer;

•  To establish a valid and comprehensive database of epidemiologic information relating to ovarian cancer that will allow the investigation of a wide range of epidemiologic, molecular and genetic hypotheses relating to the etiology of ovarian cancer;

To maintain the database to allow future investigation of factors relating to response to treatment and survival following ovarian cancer.
